Nonprofit Start-Up & Formation

With over 45 years of experience in serving Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, you will feel assured knowing that Roland Roos & Company, Fresno CPA, is walking with you step-by-step to make sure your Organization is properly and legally formed as a Tax-Exempt Entity for federal and state purposes.

For your non-profit corporation to become a tax-exempt entity, Form 1023 must be filed with and approved by the IRS. Some states also require a state-level tax-exempt status filing.

Nonprofits organizations provide limited liability protection to the personal assets of directors and officers, which typically cannot be used to satisfy the debts or liabilities of the nonprofit. To start a non-profit organization, non-profit Articles of Incorporation must be filed with the state (i.e. California) and applicable state filing fees paid.

Other Advantages of a Nonprofit Corporation:

-       Access to grants. Some nonprofits are eligible to receive public and private grants, making it easier to get operating capital.

-       Tax Exempt Status. Nonprofits can apply for both federal & state tax-exempt status.

-       Tax-deductible donations. With 501(c)(3) nonprofits, donations made by individuals to the nonprofit corporation are tax-deductible.

Our ultimate goal is to serve your financial and tax needs so you can focus on managing your organization and benefiting the people and community around us.
